I spent hours reading reviews and researching different cable modem/routers. I purchased this one due to the info provided by the manufacturer and consumer reviews. WHAT A MISTAKE. The Wi-Fi range on this unit is worse then they say, I can be in the next room and get kicked offline. I have a Xbox One directly connected via a Cat5 Cable and get dropped. I have the Cox Premium Internet Pkg with 100mbs speed and this unit can’t come close to proving me half of it. I had to purchase a separate modem and router (Netgear) to finally resolve the issues.

Mine is making a very noticeable hissing sound as others have noted. It is too loud to ignore and Arris tech support was not very helpful. I am returning for a replacement since others have said that their unit runs silent or very quietly. The speed of ethernet connect is great and the MoCA feature is what you need for streaming TVs but the WIFI is average. I live in two story home and the 2.4G signal does not have adequate strength from upstairs to downstairs so unless you have MoCA WIFI router/extender, you will need a range extender to make this work.
The replacement is also making the hissing noise – hard to understand this since others have commented that their modems run silently. Might just be bad luck that I got two defective units in a row but I doubt it. Will be returning for a refund and looking to get a different model that does not make so much noise.

It’s January, bought in May and just had to replace it. I bought it because it was one of two recommended by suddenlink for purchase and I didn’t want to rent equipment. Increasingly over the last 8 months I’ve had to reset the router to the point that if I want to use the internet, I’m resetting the router. My smart TV wouldn’t connect anymore. I have smart lights and switches that wouldn’t connect which was a huge disappointment. This whole time I thought it was suddenlink and something was wrong with the wiring. I had them do testing of the lines, check everything, they replaced the router with one of theirs just to be sure, because it couldn’t possibly be the router. Well here I am using my smart tv no problem on a rented router.

I had a lot of trouble with this and a previous model allowing too many of my peripheral devices that should remain connected to suddenly disconnect and not wish to reconnect (wi-fi camera’s specifically). While this is sleek and stylish – I found it (and the lower grade prior model very hinky and returned it as I expect things to work properly without a lot of time and effort. This required too much.
For a highly rated unit, this – to me, is far inferior to the stand alone Motorola DOCSIS 3 – Surfboard modem and Apple Airport Extreme combo I have been using and went back to

I bought this modem/router about two years ago. At the start it seemed to be ok but for the last year plus I’ve had problems with it dropping the internet. This happens on all my devices both Wi-Fi and wired. The only way to restore service was to do a AC power reset. This was happening once or twice a day. Comcast came out, ran a new coax line from the pedestal to the house and boosted the signal level. Same problem. The Arris Tech guys were great but could not solve the problem. Additionally, I lost the 5G service on three occasions. I had to do a factory reset to restore this. I cannot recommend this modem/router based upon my experiences. I purchased a Netgear AC1900 modem/router. It’s fantastic. I’v Had it for over a week with no problems. It’s faster and the range is greater than the Arris. I read online that other people have had problems with the Arris modem/router connected to Comcast. If you have Comcast internet I do not recommend this Arris modem/router. Get the Netgear, its much more reliable.
